Police officers cleared after fatal shooting

Lots of questions were raised when two cops in Mayes County shot and killed a man who was handcuffed.

Authorities are now saying the two law enforcement officers have been cleared to go backto work.

Vince Stoyanoski, Salina Police Chief, says a new report has cleared the two officers of any wrongdoing after the mandatory investigation.

The shooting happened on January 29 and left 29-year-old William Perneau dead.

Reports say the officers were trying to talk with Perneau in a motel room during a drug investigation.

Perneau had been handcuffed, but he pulled a gun from his waistband and shot at the officers, but they were not hit.

One officer on the scene shot at and killed the man.
