Police catch copper thieves at church

Police arrest two men trying to steal air conditioning units at a church Tuesday evening.

The Greater Grace Church located near 56th and Peoria recently had air-conditioning units stolen.

Tulsa police say investigators and patrol officers decided to conduct surveillance at the church in response to the robbery.

Investigators watched as Jerome Lane and Jerome King walked into the church and started tampering with the new units.

Police say a vehicle drove into the parking lot during this time and the two suspects ran away.

A short time later Lane and King returned and started to dismantle the units.

TPD says this is when nearby officers moved in and made the arrest.

Lane and King were both taken into custody on six counts of felony malicious injury to property and two counts of felony possession of copper.
