Broken Arrow, Okla. - Over the past several weeks, the Broken Arrow Police Department has investigated numerous vehicle burglaries along the walking trails by the Creek Turnpike.
Thieves have been driving through the parking lot areas along the trails, “punching” vehicle locks, entering these vehicles and taking whatever they can.
After numerous complaints, the Police Department set up an operation utilizing a “bait” car.
On Thursday, June 21st, detectives observed a vehicle enter one of the parking lots. The driver exited and burglarized a vehicle.
As Officers approached and tried to apprehend him, he entered his vehicle, drove off and struck an occupied officer’s vehicle while attempting to flee. He then fled South on Garnett and West on New Orleans where he entered a neighborhood and struck two parked vehicles.
The suspect then fled on foot and was able to get away. His lookout, 20-year-old Matthew Paul Moore, who was at the scene of the original burglary and believed to be involved in many more, was charged with 2nd degree burglary.
Officers are still looking for 20-year-old Kevin Orlando Ibarrez.
Broken Arrow Police are attempting to locate the rightful owners of the stolen property.
