Being a pizza delivery driver can be a dangerous job in the Tulsa area.
The latest example happened this week at an abandoned home near 11th and Memorial. Robbery Sgt. Brandon Watkins says the driver realized the home was vacant too late and ended up getting ambushed by two armed suspects wearing masks.
"A lot of times that's what you get," Watkins said. "They call to an abandoned house they don't think can be traced to them.”
The suspects got away in the victim's vehicle. They also took cash and part of their order with them.
A description of the suspects hasn't been released.
Statement from Mazzio's:
“Our delivery driver was not injured and for that we are thankful. Mazzio’s reviews our safety protocols and delivery zones regularly to protect the safety of our employees. This robbery may lead us to make changes to prevent a re-occurrence.”
