The agency says they will first use the airborne technology to fly over popular hunting spots to track illegal deer and dove hunters.
Fishermen will get some attention too. PETA intends to watch for any illegal equipment usage on the water or shores.
The animal rights group say they will also target hunters who are drinking while using a gun and look for what they term “maiming animals for kicks.”
PETA President Ingrid Newkirk went a step further saying “slob hunters may need to rethink the idea that they can get away with murder."
Non-profit organizations in the US are allowed to use drones as long as they comply with FAA regulations but legal workers say the interpretation of privacy laws by local law enforcement agencies may have impact on their use as well.
In 2012 a group in South Carolina called Showing Animals Kindness and Respect tried to use a drone to monitor a hunt.
It was shot down.
