Oklahoma teacher says she's ready to have gun in classroom

The renewed effort by state lawmakers to arm Oklahoma teachers has the full support of at least one of those Oklahoma teachers.

KRMG spoke with one female teacher in eastern Oklahoma who wants to remain anonymous for now, but she says she's had training in the use of firearms and says she ready to have a gun at school.

"A teacher who has had this training, and if they go through this training, they should be allowed to have a weapon," she said.  "I know how to use a weapon properly."

The question remains though about where the teacher would keep the weapon.

It would obviously have to be in a place where a students could not get access to it, but she points out that it would have to be in a place where the teacher could get to it quickly in the event of an emergency.

She said there are many different types of gun holders on the market with combination locks that could fit inside a desk.

KRMG News even found a biometric version that operates and unlocks using the teacher's thumb print.
