Camp Gruber, Okla. - Push-ups, sit-ups, long-distance runs, obstacle courses, and grenade throws; The Oklahoma National Guard put more than 300 of its soldiers through the wringer at Camp Gruber recently as part of the Warrior Challenge, a competition that's held at guard bases all around the country.
"Kind of build up some camaraderie and get 'em a little more prepped and ready for basic training," said 1st Sgt. Dammon Stephens.
Pvt. Alexis Dillon says it helps build discipline.
"They come out more respectful for other people, and they see the world totally different," Dillon said. "You have people that aren't in the military, they kind of just do their life like they want to really, and they don't have like a sense a direction."
