Okla. gas prices in 2012 most expensive on record

Gas prices in 2012 were the most expensive on record in Oklahoma, and AAA says the prices in the new year are uncertain.

The Oklahoma average price for self-serve regular gasoline in 2012 was $3.41 per gallon, topping 2011's record of $3.33 and 2008's $3.07.

The national average price for gas in 2012 was $3.60 per gallon, which is the most expensive annual average on record. The previous annual record was $3.51 a gallon set in 2011, while the third most expensive year for gas prices nationwide was 2008, when the average was $3.25 per gallon.

While AAA predicts that gas prices will remain high in 2013, they are not expected to be as high as in 2012 due to increased domestic crude oil production and lower demand.
