TULSA - Overnight storms featuring heavy rain, wind and lightning proved deadly in the Oklahoma City area late Thursday and early Friday.
The Oklahoma City Fire Department reports getting 27 calls for water rescues.
Unfortunately, in one case they could not help.
Vincent Brown, 60, was trying to help his daughter who was stranded in high water when floodwaters swept him into a drainage canal in the northwest part of the city.
The incident happened around midnight; his body was discovered about an hour later approximately a half mile north of where he was swept away.
The storms also led to some 10,000 power outages, and lightning is believed to have caused at least one house fire.
No other serious injuries were reported.
