Officers use stolen phone to catch car burglar

Officers use surveillance video and GPS to track down a car burglar on Wednesday.

Broken Arrow police say Matthew Lawwill confessed to breaking into three vehicles and stealing cell phones and a soldier's bag containing his gear.

The car burglaries all happened Wednesday evening, but he wasn't booked until Thursday.

Officers used the video to see what Lawwill looked like and then caught him by tracking one of his stolen phones.

Police say they caught the suspect at a place near Olive and New Orleans.

Once in custody, Lawwill helped officers retrieve the stolen items.  Police say the soldier's bag was recovered.

Lawwill is currently in the Tulsa County Jail.  He faces multiple counts including burglary and knowingly concealing stolen property.
