Officers give gifts to children during domestic call

Tulsa police are called out to a domestic involving a knife, just minutes before Christmas day.

Tulsa police say it happened at a home around 11:55 p.m., Christmas Eve, near 14th and Sandusky.

51-year-old Stanley Smith was taken into custody after police say he put a knife to his wife's throat while his three children were present. An arrest report states he had possibly been drinking.

The female victim was able to escape with her kids into a room and barricaded the doors until TPD arrived.

Police say Smith tried to escape during this time, hiding under a deck.  A police dog was able to track him down.

In a show of Christmas spirit, police say officers had Christmas presents and gave them to the kids.
