K-9 officer dies after stabbing

After leading officers on a high-speed chase for 30 minutes on Sunday, a suspect crashed his car and attempted to flee on foot.

That's when Kye caught up with him.

The K-9 officer was attempting to apprehend the suspect when officials say the man began stabbing him repeatedly.

According to reports, Kye's partner opened fire when he realized the K-9 was being stabbed, killing the suspect.

The dog was expected to survive the injuries, but died Monday.
