The government shutdown is hitting close to home at the Muskogee Veterans Affairs Regional Office.
Just yesterday, word came that 576 of the 1,400 employees at the Muskogee office were being furloughed.
That means the Veterans Office and call center are closed until the nation's lawmakers make some progress on the budget.
We're told that there is enough money at the VA to keep benefit payments going out to veterans served by the Muskogee Office through this month, but if the government shutdown is not resolved soon, all payment benefits will end.
