When a man returned to his truck after working a five-hour shift, he opened the door to find his 9-month-old daughter inside.
"We received a call around (4:45 p.m.) of a child who was unresponsive and had been found in the back of a vehicle," Lt. Donna Seyferth told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Co-workers say they called 911 after they heard the man screaming.
"The child was unresponsive when the officers arrived,” Seyferth began.
“They took as many life-saving measures as they could. Ambulance and rescue did the same, but the child did not survive."
Cops say the baby was strapped in a car seat as the outside temperature hit 89 degrees.
Witnesses say the father forgot to drop the baby off at a daycare before heading to work at the Fraternal Order of Police telemarketing office.
Police haven’t filed charges yet, but are continuing to investigate.
