More than 1,000 firearms belonging to historical figures like John Wayne, Jesse James, Teddy Roosevelt, and Napoleon Bonaparte will be on display.
Reuters says many of the guns have been in private collections and have never been available for public display until now.
The new collection will be housed inside the massive Bass Pro store in Springfield, Missouri.
Jim Supica is the museum director, he says “if you are a gun person, you are going to love this place."
He continued “these guns came from the NRA collection built over 80 years, but a lot came from special collections that haven't had a place for display."
The museum covers over 7,500 square feet and is free to tour.
Supica says it outlines the history of guns in the United States but promises it’s "not political.”
