For the first time Friday, fans heard from Frank Haith on his move from Missouri to the University of Tulsa.
The new men's basketball coach took a charter plane from Columbia to Tulsa as speculation grew that he was leaving Mizzou.
Haith held a news conference Friday afternoon.
He said, “Guys like Nolan Richardson, you talk about guys like Tubby Smith, guys like Bill Self and the success they’ve had in this program. That’s why I’m interested in this program. That’s why I’m here.”
Missouri’s athletic director also held a news conference Friday.
The AD says Haith communicated he was leaving with a Tweet.
Haith takes over for Danny Manning, who left TU for a job coaching at Wake Forrest.
