None - It’s called GreenAcres Market and you can’t miss the construction already underway near the lighthouse on the east end of Jenks. The store is a part of what merchants in the area hope is a revitalization of the project and the entire area near the Oklahoma Aquarium and Riverwalk Crossing.
“I hope so, you know that’s all we can do is hope and see how things pan out but it’s going to be good for us” said Freddy Lamport. Freddy owns the BierGarten Wine and Spirits just a few hundred feet from where GreenAcres is being built and the new store has already been in contact with him. “They want to get together and do tastings at the store” he noted.
For Freddy and every other merchant in that part of town the extra attention is welcome. “I’m hoping that it brings a lot of foot traffic down this way” the folks at Rathbones Flair Flowers told me. Hear my interview with the folks at Rathbones with a click here.
The shop owners also agree that their end of town has long been underserved when it comes to grocery shopping. “We have folks who live around this area that can’t make it down to the Reasor's” Freddy said. “They can just walk right to this store” he added “I think we really need that.”
Workers at the Supercuts in the same strip center were more than excited to see the new building coming along “It’ll be really exciting to get more customers here” one young lady told me. She is also glad to have another food option “It’ll be awesome, go over there and get a quick lunch” she added.
The bottom line for all the folks in the area is more attention, more customers and more business and in the current economic times, all those things sound good.
GreenAcres Market is set to open sometime this spring.
