The EA-6B Prowler is a regular sight around Washington flying frequent training missions but this time something went terribly wrong.
The plane went down in a rural area in Washington state, the aircrafts wingman confirmed to the military that no parachutes were deployed.
A private pilot in the area told Seattle TV stations "I jumped in my own plane to see what was going on, to see if I could see anything," said Stan Dammel. "There's no sign of an airplane left, there's just a big hole in the ground and a lot of black burn."
The plane was based at Whidbey Island Naval Air Station.
The EA-6B Prowler was designed for electronic warfare missions like intercepting radio transmissions and jamming radar signals.
Names have not yet been released of those involved in the crash.
