Tulsa, Okla. - The Oklahoma National Guard is getting four new helicopters that will go way above the old model in terms of what it can do.
The new Lakota Helicopter can carry 11 people, compared to just 3 in the outgoing Kiowa chopper.
It's cameras can "see" about five times farther, and it's spotlight is about 70-percent brighter.
Oklahoma National Guard pilot Chase Rutledge says they do mostly counter-drug missions.
"We do anything from marijuana eradication to search warrants, and we work with agencies from local all the way to federal," Rutledge said.
Unlike the old Kiowa, the new Lakota chopper can do sling and hoist-rescues, so it will no doubt come in handy for those kinds of missions too.
