The family vote came in December of 2010 and was meant to take the pulse of the family.
Mitt himself voted no and his son Tag says "even up until the day before he made the announcement, he was looking for excuses to get out of it."
The revelations come in a new book called “Collision 2012’ BY Washington Post writer Dan Balz.
Tag added “if there had been someone who he thought would have made a better president than he, he would gladly have stepped aside.”
At the time he polled his family, Romney was concerned that he would do well enough in the primary to carry on with the race.
However things fell his direction and the campaign was off and running.
The book contains several other gems from the race including Romney threatening to drop an F-bomb if the organizers of the Republican convention cut Chris Christie’s speech by several minutes.
Another says Romney and Paul Ryan were so confident they were going to win on election day that Ryan was busy deciding who should take his place on the House Budget Committee.
