Man slams into tree during traffic stop

KRMG has learned a traffic stop turned into a crash early Sunday morning.

Tulsa deputies say the incident happened near East 32nd and North Peoria.

An intoxicated man was stopped for speeding, so he slammed on his breaks.

Unfortunately, his vehicle didn't come to a stop right away.  Instead, he ended up making a sharp right turn into a tree.

The man was transported to an area hospital.  His injuries are said to be non-life threatening.

When he's released from the hospital, he will be booked into jail on a DUI count.
