Three police officers are on administrative leave while officials investigate the death of a man outside a movie theater in Moore.
Moore Police Department Spokesman Jeremy Lewis says Luis Rodriguez died after an altercation with officers early Saturday morning in a parking lot at the theater.
Rodriguez's wife, Nair, and daughter, Luinahi, say the two women had gotten into a fight inside the theater and Luis chased them into the parking lot to try and break it up.
The man’s wife says, "They swear under God to protect our community, and we are more afraid and scared of the police than we are of the criminals.”
Investigators say witnesses reported different stories, but police will not elaborate.
Lewis says that when officers attempted to question Luis Rodriguez, he was uncooperative.
He was handcuffed and placed on the ground.
That's when his family says police beat him to death.
Investigators spent several days reviewing a cellphone video that captured the incident.
Moore Police Chief Jerry Stillings says, "I know these officers. I know their hearts and I don’t feel that they would approach any situation with ill intent."
The officers' names have not been released.
State Representative Mike Shelton wants OSBI to investigate.
