Man gets tased after charging at officers

KRMG has learned officers were forced to tase a suicidal man after he charged at them Friday night.

Tulsa police say they were called out to a home near 7th and Garnett around 10:10 p.m. for an unnamed man locked in his room threatening to kill himself with a sword or knife.

Officers spent the next two hours trying to talk him down, after getting his two roommates to safety.  Police say one of the roommates is pregnant.

The man eventually did exit the room, but turned his attention toward the officers.

He charged at officers and had to be tased for everybody's safety.  Police say he didn't have the sword or knife on him when he went at them.

Pepper balls were also used by officers during the standoff, but it's unclear when it happened.

Nobody was seriously injured.  Police say the suspect just had some minor scrapes.
