Man fakes his own abduction in order to avoid his girlfriend

When police found 36 year old Rahmell Pettway he was between two cars and looked like he had been beaten.

But there was one giveaway. The duct tape used to tie him up was still hanging from his hands.

When first questioned Pettway told police he "couldn't recall" what had happened.

That story changed later when he claimed he had been kidnapped by two men in a minivan.

In the end Pettway admitted he just didn’t want to face his girlfriend who he had not called for several weeks.

Police in Brooklyn call him “a total moron."

Pettway has been charged with filing a false report and it turns out he was not a stranger to being booked.  He had already been arrested 14 times for things like assault, marijuana, and robbery.
