Early reports say three were killed in the quake.
The U.S. Geological Survey says it was centered around 60 miles to the south and east of the city of Bushehr and originated eight miles underground.
That’s the site of Iran’s lone nuclear power plant, one they maintain is to provide power and services to the Iranian people.
Many experts disagree and are afraid the country is using the plant to build nuclear weapons.
The Weather Channel says the quake was felt in Dubai, Qatar and Bahrain on the other side of the Persian Gulf.
Iran says the plant was not affected but social media reports indicate buildings have been evacuated in several cities.
