Long-time Tulsa Police officer honored for tireless efforts to keep people safe

Tulsa Police Officer Craig Murray has been awarded the Safe Communities Award by the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office (OHSO).

He was presented with the award at the OHSO Annual Forum and Impaired Driving Prevention Summit in Norman yesterday.

Ofc. Murray is a 34-year veteran of the Tulsa Police Department and an 8 year co-chairman of the Tulsa Area Safe Communities group.

Murray has served as the department’s Traffic Safety Coordinator for the past 11 years.

The Tulsa Area Safe Communities group has been responsible for a number of events promoting highway safety programs which have strengthened relationships between law enforcement agencies and the communities.

Murray is also known for driving the Tulsa Police Department’s pink police car as part of the city’s campaign to raise awareness for breast cancer research.
