TULSA - A wanted man jumped out of a motel window as deputies tried to arrest him Tuesday, leading to a lock down at a nearby vocational school.
Officials at Tulsa Tech confirm the incident began about noon at the campus located at 3420 S. Memorial Drive.
Tony Heaberlin, Marketing Director for Tulsa Tech, tells KRMG the suspect never made it onto the campus, and that they locked the facility down as a precaution.
"Since we're in close proximity to the location...we decided to lock down," he said. "It's a precautionary nature right now, there is no intruder on campus, there is no weapon on campus. Students are safe," he added.
Doors to the school were closed, with no one coming and going, until deputies caught their suspect shortly after 1:00, about an hour after the incident began.
Deputies say they found him hiding in some bushes in the neighborhood.
