BROKEN ARROW — Just in time for the holidays, dozens of area troops returned home to their loved ones.
On Friday, a homecoming celebration was held in Broken Arrow for members of the 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team 1st Battalion, 279th Infantry Regiment. One soldier we spoke to says they spent six months in the Ukraine teaching troops how to defend themselves against Russian aggression.
“We did what we needed to do and we helped them,” the soldier said. I think we made a lot of progress in the six months we were there.”
Now, it's time to see his family and to get his reward.
“I’m going to have Whataburger,” the solder added.
