TULSA, Okla. - Going above and beyond has turned into some national recognition for a local paramedic.
Matt Llewellen organized a drive to collect food and clothes for victims of the Mannford wildfire.
That earned him the Stars of Life award from the American Ambulance Association.
Llewellen tells KRMG that he doesn't deserve such an award. Llewellen says,"I really don't think I deserve such a prestigious recognition. I think there are everyday heroes out there that deserve it much more."
Llewellen heads to Washington DC next week to receive his award.
The Oklahomans Helping Oklahomans organization was formed out of Llewellen's volunteer work.
