TULSA - A free event hosted by the American Diabetes Association of Eastern Oklahoma could be considered almost as a free check-up.
Attendees will receive free screenings, including free cholesterol screenings for the first 75 people to attend.
A panel of medical experts will be on hand to answer questions about diabetes, and Dr. Raphael Francisco will make a brief presentation, according to Christy Lamerton, Associate Director of the ADAEO.
Snacks will be provided for those who fasted beforehand; fasting is recommended in order to guarantee accurate results.
The event will conclude with a presentation on the "Top Ten Secrets to Health Eating" by My Fit Foods, which will provide free samples.
Lamert tells KRMG "Dr. Francisco views Living with Diabetes as a truly comprehensive health fair designed for patients with diabetes and those at risk for diabetes. It will be a gathering place for most of the resources available in and around Tulsa, OK for the management and prevention of diabetes. Patients will also have the opportunity to have themselves tested and screened by medical experts on the most important measures of health that all patients with diabetes are gauged on. The ultimate goal of this event is to educate diabetic patients and their friends and families on how to actively manage and successfully live with diabetes."
The Living with Diabetes event takes place Saturday, March 23 from 7:30 a.m. to noon at the Tulsa Southern Hills Marriott, 1902 E. 71st St. in Tulsa. For more information, visit the ADA website, or call (918) 492-3839 x 6037.
