Lawmakers wonder whether marijuana is dangerous

Lawmakers have questions about smoking marijuana and driving.

Lawmakers on Capitol Hill were wondering yesterday whether driving cars after smoking marijuana is dangerous and if so, how to measure the danger.

Republican John Mica of Florida says it's only after a fatal crash that investigators can determine if a driver has measurable levels of THC in his bloodstream.

Democrat Gerald Connolly countered that it's just as possible that marijuana doesn't pose as much of a risk as alcohol does, suggesting that drivers who are high may slow down rather than recklessly speed.
