Landscaper gets permission to volunteer equipment and crews for storm debris clean-up

A Tulsa businessman wanted to volunteer time, manpower, equipment and expertise to help the city clean up storm debris.

Problem was, Todd Rickert of Rickert Landscaping and Tree Service couldn't get anyone to tell him "yes."

After calling several different departments with the city, he finally did get an answer, but it was "no."

"They told me flat out I couldn't do it because it's the city workers' job," Rickert said.

So he called KRMG, and we contacted the city on his behalf.

Michelle Allen in Communications directed us to Dan Crossland, Director of Streets and Storm Water.

Rickert did get through to Crossland, and says the conversation went well -- they'll work together to create a project in the next week or so.

It's a win-win-win, he says.

"They get their job done quicker, we get some exposure to the public out there that we're helping out, and a few more yards get cleaned up and mowed that Saturday or whatever after we come through," he said.
