TULSA - The Oklahoma Department of Labor is warning consumers to be wary when hiring alarm installers or locksmiths.
By state law, they must be licensed, and work for a licensed company.
That ensures they've been checked out for a possible criminal history.
Rick Flanigan with the ODOL tells KRMG that way, "you're getting somebody who's been vetted. That's actually taken a test, actually had a background check done, fingerprint report from the FBI and OSBI."
Recently, the ODOL ran a "sting" operation to target unlicensed installers and locksmiths.
One man nearly ran over a couple of investigators who were conducting a sting in Tulsa last week, Flanigan confirms.
That investigation continues.
