The answers are as varied as the great nation we live in. From Harry Truman to Franklin Delano Roosevelt and George H.W. Bush to Dwight Eisenhower.
But when you ask Oklahoman’s who their favorite Presidents are two names leap to the forefront.
“Ronald Reagan of course” two men blurted out followed quickly by “and of course George Bush.”
We did an unscientific but still fun poll and were a little surprised by some of the other names we heard and some we didn’t.
Oklahoma must not have believed in Camelot as the name of John F. Kennedy didn’t pop up once nor did George Washington.
Also left off the list were Teddy Roosevelt and Richard Nixon.
We were a little surprised when one young man said “Calvin Coolidge.” Wanting a little more background we asked why. “Cal Cool” he said. Yes, he just thought the nickname would be neat.
A Gallup poll from 2011 asked the nation and ranked Ronald Reagan as #1 followed by Abraham Lincoln.
Coming in third was Bill Clinton followed by John Kennedy and George Washington.
