Jenks business heading north because taxes are too high

Oklahoma's state income tax is going down but not quick enough for a Jenks business.

They're packing up and heading north to the land of lower taxes.

Angela Hendrix co-owns D. Hendrix Photography with her husband. She tells KRMG that income taxes aren't the only problem. Hendrix says, "We live in the Jenks district. Taxes are continually going up. We appreciate the school district but we can't continue to say here."

Hendrix tells KRMG that Kansas is their destination because of the lower property, sales and income taxes. Henrix, "We claim zero (exemptions) on our taxes all year and we still owe the state of Oklahoma. I'm not quite sure who does the math on that but it doesn't make any sense to us so we're moving on."

The Hendrix family is originally from the Kansas City area and say their daughter's graduation and wedding also are factoring into their move.
