This time the agency was wasting American’s hard earned money at a 2010 conference in Anaheim.
The video shows IRS employee’s line dancing to the Cupid Shuffle which doesn’t sound all that bad.
Until, you hear that the cost of the conference to you and me was $4.1 million.
The House Ways and Means Committee released the video and Politico reports one Republican member calling it “frivolous entertainment” and saying the meeting shows “abuse and waste is the norm and not the exception.”
The agency is no stranger to troubles with the ongoing investigation into the targeting of religious and conservative groups and some media.
Acting IRS head Daniel Werfel will try to head off some of the criticism in a report due out this week. There, he’ll call the spending “an unfortunate vestige from a prior era.”
To get an idea of how much of your money has been tossed out the window watch for the report from the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration.
It’s called “Collected and Wasted: The IRS Spending Culture and Conference Abuses," and will cover what’s said to be $49 million spent by the IRS on conferences the past few years.
