An increase in guns confiscated at the Tulsa airport

TSA agents in Tulsa confiscated 13 guns from passengers at the Tulsa International Airport in 2012.

This is in addition to one grenade being confiscated.

Airports around the country saw a spike in gun confiscations in the last year.  TSA's Luis Casanova says Tulsa saw an increase of just four, but in reality there is no excuse for anybody to try and bring guns through security.

Casanova says TSA has warned people in several different ways.  Still, the biggest excuse used by passengers is they simply forgot the gun was in the bag.

People also forget you can bring guns with you on your trip legally.  Casanova says the weapons must be in checked baggage and they must be declared.

An increase in passengers trying to sneak guns through security isn't the worst statistic of this story.  Casanova says 85 percent of the guns confiscated around the country at TSA security points were loaded.
