Hertz to move Tulsa Dollar Thrifty headquarters to Florida

Hertz is moving its headquarters from New Jersey to Florida.

The impact on the number of jobs in Tulsa isn’t clear.

Dollar Thrifty is based in Tulsa.

A statement from the company, obtained by KRMG, says, "Dollar Thrifty is currently headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Consolidating the corporate offices to one location will allow for increased efficiencies and cost synergies across the company."

The company says they want to be in Florida to be in the middle of a key travel market and trim corporate expenses after its $2.3 billion buyout of one-time rival, Dollar Thrifty.

A company spokesman says, "Oklahoma will continue to be our primary home for IT, customer service and financial support driving our North American businesses.  Overall, we concluded that it is in the best interests of our company, which is primarily in the travel and tourism business, to be near our largest market."

Up to 700 jobs will shift to Florida over a two-year period. More than 2,000 Hertz and Dollar Thrifty workers will stay in New Jersey, including about 150 employees from the current headquarters in Park Ridge.

All other Park Ridge workers will be able to keep their current positions at the new headquarters in Estero, Fla., just north of Naples on the Gulf Coast.

Hertz Global Holdings Group Inc. closed on its acquisition of Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group in November.
