Helping veterans heal is the idea behind 'Project Healing Waters'

Helping veterans heal... that's the idea behind 'Project Healing Waters.'

Roman Leader is one hero taking part in the program.

He tells KGMG that Project Healing Waters helps his PTSD.

Leader says, "Learning how to be patient, tying flies, rod building, things like that... it's comforting."

Project Healing Waters is dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active military service personnel and veterans.

Originally the program focused on military personnel in the Washington, DC area.

It has since expanded nationwide and is offering its services and program to wounded active military personnel and disabled veterans in Department of Defense and Department of Veterans Affairs hospitals throughout the country.

The Oklahoma chapter of Project Healing Waters will be taking part in Fly Fishing 101 this Saturday outside The Gadget Company at 15th and Boston.

The event is free but reservations are required for classes.
