Head-on crash kills three Tulsans in Rogers County

Update

Three people are dead after a head-on collision in Rogers County yesterday.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol tells us a car tried to pass a semi on State Highway 266 and hit another car head-on.

29-year old Owen McCool from Tulsa died at a hospital.

Another driver 21-year old Clifford Colyer and his passenger 23-year old Garold Benner, both from Tulsa, died at the scene near 145th East Avenue.

The semi driver, 32-year old Brian Rodriguez of Tulsa, was not injured.

A head-on collision involving a vehicle reportedly trying to pass a semi tractor-trailer rig in a no-passing zone has killed three people.

It happened about 4:00 p.m. Thursday on SH 266, also known as 46th Street North, near 145th East Avenue.

Several agencies responded to the scene of the crash and authorities completely shut down SH 66 at the scene of the crash.

It appears a man driving a Chevrolet Tahoe eastbound was trying to pass another car in a no-passing zone and as he crossed the bridge he smashed head-on into a Chevrolet Malibu occupied by two men.

The Tahoe driver and both men in the Malibu died from their injuries.

Investigators have not released the names or the ages of those involved.
