Grass fire spreads quickly near 91st and Hwy 169

The fire sparked just to the west of Hwy 169 near the TCC Southeast campus.

High winds made it difficult for firefighters to contain the blaze. Drivers in the southbound direction of 169 could see the fire to the right side of the road.

The fire is mostly contained now, though fire crews are still on the scene to keep any hotspots from re-igniting.

Tulsa Fire tells KRMG they think an electrical box on a roadside billboard may have shorted out and sparked the fire.

The closest structure to the fire was the TCC campus just off of 81^st Street, though firefighters say the campus was never in any danger.
