Labor Day weekend is one of the busiest for Oklahoma lakes, especially Grand Lake.
General Manager of Harbors View Marina, Judy Florida, told KRMG they’re ready for the crowds.
“We have a really special event called Red Dirt & Ribs on Route 66.” Florida said.
“We’re decorating the marina all in Route 66 memorabilia and signs with trivia and electric slot car races.” She added.
This happens Saturday night and Florida said there will also be a red dirt band playing that night.
One of the issues Grand Lake deals with each year though, is a lower water level. Florida told KRMG the water is brought down a few feet because of a government requirement.
She says the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission requires the water be lowered each year.
“I think we’ll still have a great crowd for Labor Day, even with the lake drawdown.” Florida said.
She also reminded us that the Bernice swimming area on Grand Lake is still closed because of an E. coli breakout. The rest of the lake, though, is clean.
