Fundraising US Olympic gear made in China

The USOC is trying to make some money to support athletes from the US as they head to the games in Sochi, Japan.

So they decided to sell mittens with “Go USA” emblazoned on them. Trouble is, those products have “Made in China” on the inside.

There is a catch here.

You can buy the official, made in America set for $98 but the Chinese made goods go for a much more affordable $14.

One USOC spokesman told the AP, "we wanted to create a fundraising opportunity where almost anyone could support Team USA."

The mittens are going like gangbusters with over $500,000 raised so far.

This comes just a year after it was discovered Team USA’s uniforms were made in China.

That led to some US Senators and Congressmen suggesting those suits be “torched in a bonfire.”

The idea didn’t even come from this country.

The USOC took their cue from north of the border after Canada did the same thing.

"Go Canada" mittens were also sold, raising $14 million for their 2010 team. And yes, the mittens were also made in China.
