As expected, a powerful cold front caused a sharp drop in temperatures Tuesday, and instead of getting warmer, the weather will get colder during the afternoon on Tuesday, with a Frost Advisory in effect starting at 1:00 a.m. Wednesday morning.
The advisory notes that any plants left outside could be killed by the cold.
It also says it's possible it could be upgraded to a more serious Freeze Warning.
"It is winterlike weather across the area, and here we are in late April," said News on 6 meteorologist Travis Meyer. "It does appear that we'll continue with extremely cold weather for the rest of today and tonight into tomorrow and tomorrow night."
Trav said there would likely be some continuing drizzle and light rain during Tuesday afternoon.
He said temperatures probably won't rebound completely into normal range until the weekend.
