Blackmon violated the league’s substance abuse policy but there no details on exactly how.
The suspension is without pay meaning the former Oklahoma State Cowboy will give up nearly $300,000 in salary and may lose much more in previously guaranteed payouts that will be voided by his actions.
Blackmon released the following statement after the news broke.
“I’ve made a mistake and I have no excuse," Blackmon said in a statement released by the Jaguars. "I am truly sorry and disappointed in myself for putting the Jaguars in this situation, and I look forward to putting this behind me and maturing and growing as a person."
It’s not the first run in with the law for Blackmon.
He was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol by a Payne County sheriff's deputy in Stillwater in June of 2012 before being released later that day.
He was also arrested for DUI in Texas in 2010 driving back from a Dallas Cowboys game with friends. Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy suspended his star receiver for a game afterwards.
