Following water emergency, Broken Arrow plans 'Take your employees to lunch day' Friday

The Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce is encouraging everyone to open their wallets to help support businesses hit hard by the recent water emergency.

The Chamber is promoting 'Take Your Employees to Lunch Day' on Friday.

Chamber leaders tell KRMG their goal is to lessen the impact of the recent water situation on local restaurants and shops by asking Broken Arrow businesses and residents to support them.

The Chamber is asking business owners to allow time for employees to go out to eat during the lunch hour Friday and to help promote 'Take Your Employees to Lunch Day' on their marquees, Facebook pages, newsletters, etc.

Jason Scarpa owns Main Street Tavern in downtown Broken Arrow. He tells KRMG that lost food and labor plus no customers will cost him about $10,000. Scarpa says, "The restaurant industry is very low profit. To lose a day of sales is very painful."

Scarpa points out that the safety of his customers and employees is more important than a big dent in his wallet.
