Tulsa police say 24-year-old Scott Allen Boldon and 19-year-old Heidi Benjamin were arrested on Wednesday after the toddler needed brain surgery. Boldon faces two counts of child abuse by injury and Benjamin was booked for permitting child abuse and child neglect.
The mother says she was taking a shower and her boyfriend was watching the toddler. Police say the mother told them when she came out of the bathroom, that's when she noticed there was something wrong with the child.
Neither suspect called for help right away. Police say the toddler was unresponsive before emergency crews were called.
A doctor examined the child's numerous injuries and advised police they were intentionally inflicted by an adult.
No word on the condition of the toddler after her surgery.
