Flood threat remains as rain continues

As rain continues across Oklahoma, cities all around are cleaning up from flooding and keeping an eye on the sky as more rainfall is in the forecast.

Over in Ft. Gibson, emergency manager Larry Dale Cooper says the town ended up with more than 3 inches of rain in just one hour Monday. That caused flooding on city streets and on state Highway 10.

People who live in Warner were also evacuated from their homes Monday as flood waters blocked streets and flooded buildings, including one apartment complex.

FOX23 Chief Meteorologist James Aydelott says we’ll likely see more rain Tuesday and the chance continues into Wednesday, but chances are decreasing by the weekend.

The heavy rain some areas saw yesterday certainly helped with the drought, but we’ll need a whole lot more to make a big difference.

As of last week, the U.S. Drought Monitor reports that nearly three-fourths of the state was in a severe to extreme drought.
