TULSA- The National Weather Service in Tulsa has issued a flash flood warning for parts of green country. That warning includes parts of east central Osage County, north central Tulsa County, southern Washington County in northeast Oklahoma until 4 p.m.
The National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a line of thunderstorms with very heavy rain extending from near Wynona to Collinsville.
2 to 4 inches of rainfall has already occurred with an additional 1 to 3 inches possible. Runoff from this excessive rainfall will cause flash flooding to occur.
Some locations that could experience flooding include; Tulsa, Avant, Barnsdall, Collinsville, Owasso, Skiatook, Sperry, Vera and Wynona.
They are warning drivers to not drive your vehicle into areas where water covers the road to unknown depths. It only takes two feet of rushing water to carry away most sport utility vehicles and pickups. Take a different route to reach your destination or wait until the water recedes.
