(TULSA) - The Sapulpa City Council cleared a plan to make a dog park on five acres of donated land at Kelly Lane Park off Highway 117.
It will cost close to $170,000 to build. The Parks Department thinks they can get it done without costing taxpayers a penny.
Sue Reeves lives across from the future park and told FOX23 it’s something the area has needed for a while.
“Because I see a bunch of dogs just running around not on leashes. So if they had a dog park, they could go put it in the dog park,” Reeves said.
Parks and Recreation Director John Waytula said the park will have many nice features.
“There’ll be two areas for large dogs and small dogs. And there’ll be some dog toys and sun shelters,” Waytula said.
The park is expected to cost close to $170,000. The Parks Department thinks they can get it done without costing taxpayers a penny.
City leaders plan to apply for grants and are looking for private donors.
Waytula said crews will start clearing land for phase one this Fall.
